Windows Vista Two Years Later

windows-vistaIt’s been a little over 2 years now since Windows Vista has been in circulation. When it was first released I couldn’t count the amount of negative press that it received. Now after all this time you really don’t hear about all the horror stories like before. Why is that? It’s because Vista has gotten a whole lot better. Being a Custom PC builder I did see a lot of initial problems with Windows Vista such has software incompatibility and driver support for a lot of hardware.

What people might have forgotten is that we went through the same thing when we all upgraded from Windows 98 to Windows XP way back when. Having a few bumps in the road is just part of the Operating System life-cycle. Now issues with Windows Vista are pretty much non-existent. I have to admit that when I first used Vista I wasn’t a big fan of the UAC(user access control) that Microsoft added, but it really doesn’t interfere with your daily activities after awhile. It does take some getting used to, but it was put there to protect us from viruses and spyware that we might receive from an email or download from the internet. Being in the I.T. field I must say that I see far fewer computers with Windows Vista getting viruses and spyware than I do Windows XP. Yes there were initial problems with Windows Vista just like there are with any new operating system, but now those problems are gone. All software I have thrown at it works, drivers issues are no more, and it is rock solid. Windows Vista is stable, more secure and just looks much better than Windows XP. The only real drawback for Windows Vista is that you will need a fairly fast processor and at least 2GB of memory if you want it to run smoothly.

After you use Windows Vista for awhile it really makes Windows XP look old and out dated. I guess all you hear is from all the people that hate Windows Vista. You don’t hear from all the people that are happy with it, which far outweigh the people that hate it. The publicity was so bad that many people are still choosing to downgrade to Windows XP without even giving it a try, but I for one will not be. I can’t go back now. I for one Love Windows Vista and I invite everyone else to give it another chance. A lot has changed since two years back.
